1. Who is responsible

Palunero is operated by Rares Oroian. For privacy questions or requests, email palunero@raresoroian.com. This policy covers the Palunero iPhone app and this support website.

2. Information on your device

The app stores your library entries, original scans, prepared pages, recognized text, reading copies and positions, quotes, annotations, reading history, timer state and preferences locally. Camera images are used to capture pages; originals are kept separately from processing results. Recognition and page preparation use bundled resources and Apple system frameworks on the device. We do not receive your library or use it to train models.

Foreground reading of a scanned book can record reading time automatically. It pauses when you leave, lock your phone or open reader tools; an explicit timer takes precedence. This measures visible reading time, not attention. You can also log reading manually or time a paper-book session.

3. Permissions and visible information

Camera access is used for scanning. Selecting an image through the system Photos picker may cause Apple Photos to retrieve an iCloud asset. Optional notifications provide local reading reminders; iOS controls delivery. You can manage permissions in iPhone Settings.

Widgets share limited title, cover and reading-progress information with Palunero’s own extension. Anyone who can see your screen may see that information. The app’s hide-titles setting omits titles and covers from new widget snapshots; refreshes may be delayed. Remove a widget for immediate concealment. Live Activities display timer information without book titles.

4. iCloud, backups and syncing

The current app has no in-app iCloud library-sync feature. Original scans and saved user content are eligible for device backup, which may include iCloud Backup if you enable it in your Apple settings. Apple manages those services under its own terms and privacy policy. Backups are different from live syncing between devices. Availability depends on settings, space and Apple’s services; restoration has not yet been verified for this app. There is no in-app recovery export. Keep another copy of irreplaceable material.

5. Website delivery and support email

This website is hosted and delivered by Cloudflare. Visiting it sends technical information such as your IP address, requested URL, browser information and request time to the hosting infrastructure to serve pages, maintain security and diagnose delivery problems. This site adds no analytics scripts, advertising pixels, external fonts or application cookies. Cloudflare may process technical data or use security mechanisms as needed to operate and protect its services. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

If you email support, we receive your address, message and anything you choose to attach through Apple iCloud Mail. Please avoid sending complete books, sensitive documents or unnecessary personal information. We use correspondence to answer you, troubleshoot your request and maintain necessary support or legal records. See Apple’s privacy policy.

TestFlight beta testing

If you install a beta through TestFlight, Apple automatically collects crash logs and usage information and shares it with us. This can include testing identifiers, device and app details, and your name or email address. Feedback you submit can include comments and screenshots. This platform collection is separate from Palunero’s local library and cannot be opted out of while participating in TestFlight. We use beta data only to improve Palunero and related products, not for advertising, and do not share it with third parties. We keep developer-held copies only as long as needed to investigate and resolve testing issues. See Apple’s TestFlight privacy notice for Apple’s practices and retention. Avoid including private or copyrighted pages in feedback. You can stop beta participation through TestFlight.

6. Purposes, legal bases and recipients

Where data protection law requires a legal basis, we process requested support to provide assistance connected to the app; we rely on legitimate interests in responding to enquiries, keeping the website reliable, preventing abuse and handling legal claims and improving the app through beta testing, and on legal obligations where applicable. We do not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising. Service providers include Cloudflare for website delivery and Apple for support email; disclosure may also be necessary to comply with law or protect legal rights.

Apple and Cloudflare operate internationally, so technical and support data may be processed outside your country, including outside the EEA. Applicable transfer safeguards and provider practices are described in their linked privacy policies; contact us for information relevant to your request.

7. Retention and deletion

Local content remains until you remove it. Deleting a library book removes linked scans and reading copies when no other item uses them. Reading history and annotations are independent and may need separate deletion. Deletion in the app cannot be undone. Uninstalling removes the app’s local container; Apple-managed backups may retain earlier copies under your settings.

Support messages are kept only for as long as reasonably needed to resolve the request, provide follow-up support, meet legal obligations or handle disputes. Hosting and security data follow the provider’s configured retention and applicable requirements. We cannot remotely view or delete the library stored only on your device.

8. Your choices and rights

You can manage app permissions, notifications, widgets, backups and local content using the app and iPhone settings. Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, erase or receive a copy of personal data we hold, restrict processing, object to processing based on legitimate interests, and complain to your local data protection authority. In Romania, that authority is ANSPDCP. Contact us to exercise your rights. We may need proportionate information to verify a request. We do not use support or website data for automated decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects.

9. Children and updates

Palunero is a general reading tool, not a service directed specifically at children. We do not knowingly collect children’s personal information through support. A parent or guardian may contact us about information a child has sent. We will update this policy when relevant practices change and show the revision date here. A future cloud-sync feature would require a corresponding policy update before release.
